Man Attempts Robbery at Hubballi Bank, Apprehended Within Hours
Hubballi, EXPRESS News: A dramatic robbery attempt unfolded at the Union Bank of India, located in the APMC area of Amaragol, Hubballi, on Thursday evening. Around 4:30 PM, an unidentified man, armed with a knife and wearing a mask, entered the bank with the intention of robbing it.
The suspect threatened a bank employee by holding a knife to their throat and demanded ₹10 lakh as he moved toward the cash counter. When other employees attempted to intervene, the man pushed them aside and fled the scene.
A swift response by the APMC Navanagar police led to a breakthrough within five hours. The police team, led by Inspector Samiulla K, conducted an immediate operation with the assistance of the bank staff. They successfully apprehended the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Manjunath Habib, a resident of Gopanakoppa. Two knives and bags used in the robbery attempt were seized from him.
During interrogation, the accused confessed that financial losses in the stock market had driven him to this act, as he was facing severe economic hardship. Legal proceedings have been initiated against him.
