Maharashtra BJP Chief’s Son’s Audi Hits Several Vehicles; Driver and Passenger Arrested
In a dramatic turn of events, a luxury Audi owned by Sanket Bawankule, son of Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule, was involved in a series of collisions early Monday morning in Nagpur’s Ramdaspeth area. The incident resulted in the arrest of two occupants, including the car’s driver.
The accident occurred around 1 a.m. when the Audi initially crashed into a vehicle belonging to Jitendra Sonkamble. The car then hit a moped, injuring two young riders. The vehicle continued its erratic journey, striking additional cars as it made its way towards Mankapur. At a T-Point, the Audi collided with a Polo car. Occupants of the Polo managed to chase and intercept the Audi near Mankapur Bridge, where three individuals, including Sanket Bawankule, fled the scene.
The driver of the Audi, Arjun Hawre, and another occupant, Ronit Chittamwar, were apprehended by the Polo car occupants and taken to the Tehsil police station. They were later transferred to Sitabuldi police for further investigation. Blood samples from Hawre and the arrested occupant have been collected for testing.
A case of rash driving and other charges has been filed based on Sonkamble’s complaint. Arjun Hawre and Ronit Chittamwar have since been released on bail, while the investigation continues.
Chandrashekhar Bawankule, speaking on behalf of his son, urged for a thorough and unbiased investigation into the incident. He emphasized the importance of equal application of the law and stated that he has not interfered with the police proceedings.
