Bengaluru: Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy took a jibe at Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who had previously vowed to develop Bengaluru to the standards of Singapore. However, Kumaraswamy remarked that instead of achieving that vision, the city has been transformed into something resembling Venice under the current government’s tenure.

Speaking to reporters, Kumaraswamy said, “I visited Venice about 25 years ago, where residents used small boats to move around the city. Looking at Bengaluru now, with its streets waterlogged due to incessant rains, it reminds me of Venice, not Singapore.”

On the topic of the NDA candidate for the Channapatna constituency, Kumaraswamy revealed that BJP national president JP Nadda had contacted him. Nadda suggested that CP Yogeshwar would resign from his MLC post to contest from Channapatna on a JD(S) ticket. Kumaraswamy added that Union Minister Pralhad Joshi also called, requesting that the BJP be allowed to field their candidate for the constituency. “There are still three days left to file the nomination papers. We’ll see what happens,” he said.
