Lucknow– The Uttar Pradesh government is urgently seeking applications from construction workers for immediate job opportunities in building construction projects in Israel.

According to an advertisement released by the state’s labor department, “The government is offering a golden opportunity to construction workers for employment. Applications are invited from skilled workers such as raj mistri, tiles workers, shuttering workers, and those involved in netting, etc., under the Government of India’s National Skill Development Mission. The selected workers will be engaged in secure locations in Israel for building construction.”

The compensation for the job is set at Rs 1.25 lakh per month for each worker, with an additional Rs 15,000 per month provided as a bonus fund. The bonus will be deposited in the company’s account and disbursed to the worker at the end of their employment period.

In May, India and Israel had agreed to send 42,000 Indian workers, including 34,000 construction workers, to Israel for employment. The ongoing conflict with Palestine and the subsequent cancellation of work permits for Palestinians by Israel has led to a severe shortage of labor in the country.

Last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the expedited arrival of Indian workers in Israel to address the labor shortage.

On December 15, the Haryana government also advertised 10,000 job openings, drawing criticism for sending its people to a conflict-ridden country. The Haryana government sought skilled workers in framework, shuttering, iron bending, ceramic tiles installation, and plastering, offering a monthly salary of over Rs 1.55 lakh with a contract not exceeding 63 months.

The Uttar Pradesh government has outlined specific conditions for applicants, including proficiency in at least one of the required skills, possession of a valid passport (or assistance in obtaining a Tatkal passport), and signing a mandatory contract for a minimum of one year to a maximum of five years of employment. Applicants or their family members should not have worked in Israel before, and the applicant, aged between 21 and 45, is responsible for funding their travel to and from Israel. Additionally, a minimum of three years’ experience in the specified field is required.
