Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren emerged victorious on Monday in the assembly’s floor test, securing support from a total of 47 coalition MLAs during the crucial trust vote. The Opposition garnered 29 votes in comparison.

The announcement of Champai Soren’s triumph was made by Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan, prompting jubilant cheers within the Jharkhand assembly.

The critical majority mark in the 81-member Jharkhand Legislative Assembly stands at 41. Prior to the litmus test, Champai Soren had asserted that the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) commands the backing of 47 MLAs, with expectations that this number may rise to 50.

During today’s special session of the Jharkhand assembly, Chief Minister Champai Soren initiated the confidence motion and took the opportunity to criticize the BJP. He accused the saffron party of attempting to “destabilize” the duly elected state government.
