JD(S) Leader Prajwal Revanna Suspeded Amidst Sex Scandal Allegations
Hubballi: Prajwal Revanna, the JD(S) leader and MP for Hassan, has been suspeded from the party amidst allegations of involvement in a sex scandal. The decision to expel him was made during a core committee meeting held in the city on Tuesday, chaired by GT Deve Gowda, the core committee chairman, and subsequently conveyed to JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda.
Former CM Kumaraswamy, addressing reporters, emphasized that if the SIT substantiates Prajwal’s involvement in the purported sex tape controversy, he will face permanent expulsion from the party. He accused the deputy chief minister of orchestrating the scandal surrounding Prajwal Revanna and called for his dismissal. Kumaraswamy questioned the evidence, pointing out that Prajwal’s face was not identifiable in the videos, yet the party acted on moral grounds.
Adding to the controversy, HD Kumaraswamy alleged that Karnataka’s deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar was behind the scandal and insisted on his removal from office.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed BJP’s stance on the issue, stressing the need for a thorough investigation. He questioned the Congress government’s inaction, urging Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to address the matter with their leadership.
In response, the National Commission for Women condemned the alleged sexual misconduct involving Prajwal Revanna, urging swift action from Karnataka authorities.
Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, holds significance in the JD(S) party. His father, HD Revanna, was a minister in the Congress-JD(S) alliance government led by his uncle, H D Kumaraswamy.
The alleged sex scandal surrounding Prajwal Revanna has garnered attention due to the circulation of thousands of pen drives containing purported videos of sexual misconduct, mostly recorded by Prajwal himself. These videos, allegedly shot in his residence and office, led to a case of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation filed against Prajwal and his father.
The situation escalated further as the Karnataka police reported the discovery of numerous videos, raising concerns about the safety and well-being of the women involved.
