ISKCON Temple in Tirupati Receives Bomb Threat
On Sunday evening, the ISKCON temple in Tirupati received a bomb threat via email, with claims that ISIS-affiliated groups intended to target the temple. In response, the temple management immediately filed a complaint, prompting a police team to rush to the location.
The email reportedly stated that “Pakistan’s ISI-linked terrorists” were planning an attack on the temple. Police quickly launched an investigation, deploying bomb disposal teams and sniffer dogs throughout the temple premises. After an extensive search, no explosives were found, and the threat was determined to be a hoax.
The incident marks the fourth such hoax in Tirupati over three days. Multiple hotels in the area also received similar bomb threat emails, leading to evacuations and thorough checks. Tirupati East Police Station Circle Inspector Srinivasulu confirmed on Friday that three hotels had received similar threats, resulting in FIRs and ongoing investigations.
The local Superintendent of Police, L. Subbarayudu, assured the public of the police’s rapid response, highlighting that all recent bomb threats in Tirupati were deemed fake. Cybercrime units have been activated to trace the origins of these emails, some of which referenced Jaffer Sadiq, a suspected drug trafficking network leader arrested by the NCB and ED in Tamil Nadu. The investigation continues to track down the source of these threats.
