A MiG-29 fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed near Agra on Monday during a routine training exercise. Both the pilot and co-pilot ejected safely, escaping injury. The Air Force reported that a technical fault mid-flight led to the incident. An investigation has been ordered to determine the cause of the malfunction.

Witnesses stated that the pilots were found approximately two kilometers from the crash site. Displaying quick thinking, the pilot directed the aircraft to an empty field near Soniga village in the Kagraul area, averting potential disaster. Had the crash occurred over a populated area, the damage could have been extensive.

The MiG-29 took off from Adampur in Punjab. As news of the incident spread, villagers gathered at the site where the aircraft had come down in farmer Bobby’s field, between Bagha and Baha villages. Local resident Ajay Chahar mentioned that the burning aircraft flew over his village, and praised the pilot’s decision to avoid residential areas.

Emergency response teams, including the Air Force and fire brigade units, arrived promptly to control the blaze. Further details on the incident are awaited.
