Hubballi’s KMCRI to Get New Vascular Surgery Dept, Minister Patil Confirms
Hubballi, EXPRESS News: Medical Education Minister Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil has directed Karnataka Medical College and Research Institute (KMCRI) Director Dr. S.F. Kammar to submit a proposal for the creation of a vascular surgery department at the institute.
Speaking to Hubli Express News, Dr. Patil emphasized the importance of vascular surgeons, noting a shortage of such specialists in the region. When questioned about the suspension of AV fistula procedures for renal disease patients, the minister inquired into the reason behind the halt. The doctors explained that while they have a CVTS (Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery) specialist, they currently lack a vascular surgeon to perform the procedure.
In response, the minister instructed the director to hire a specialist and take all necessary steps to establish a vascular surgery department at KMCRI.
