Hubballi: Two-Year-Old Boy’s Death under Investigation, Cause Undetermined
HUBBALLI : A two-and-a-half-year-old boy in Tajnagar in Hubballi tragically died on Thursday afternoon after falling unconscious while playing near his grandparents’ home. While the exact cause of death remains unconfirmed, the incident has sparked concerns among the family, who allege a potential drug reaction related to an immunization received the previous day.
The boy was immediately rushed to the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Hospital after losing consciousness. However, Dr. Arunkumar, Medical Superintendent at KIMS, confirmed that the child was brought in deceased. “Upon arrival, the boy was unresponsive and declared dead on arrival,” Dr. Arunkumar stated.
While the child’s family alleges a link between the death and the recent immunization, Dr. Arunkumar said, “Determining the cause of death without a thorough autopsy is impossible,” he explained. “We have informed the police, and an autopsy will be conducted at the earliest.”
Adding to the complexity, health department officials confirmed that three other children who received the same immunization alongside the deceased are in good health, further casting doubt on an immediate drug reaction. “If it were a vaccine reaction, it would typically occur within hours,” an official clarified. “However, we fully understand the family’s concerns and await the autopsy report for conclusive information.”
The incident has prompted the activation of a dedicated committee that investigates such matters. “A thorough investigation will be conducted based on the autopsy and other findings,” confirmed an official. “Further actions will be determined based on the results of this investigation.”
