Hubballi Resident Loses Rs 8 Lakh in Online Investment Scam
Hubballi, Karnataka: A resident of Kanya Nagar in Hubballi fell victim to an online fraud, losing over Rs 8 lakh. The 35-year-old man, whose identity has not been disclosed by police, received a message on February 29th promising easy online earnings.
Lured by the prospect of quick money, the victim responded to the message. He was then contacted by a person claiming to be Arya Gupta from CTR Solutions. Gupta offered the victim a part-time job providing product ratings for an e-commerce company, with the promise of high daily returns between Rs 8,000 and Rs 20,000.
The scam began subtly. The victim received small payments for completing initial tasks. However, the fraudsters then directed him to join a Telegram group. There, they convinced him to invest in cryptocurrency for even greater profits. Trusting Gupta, the victim transferred a total of Rs 8,31,600 to the perpetrators. Only later did he realize he had been cheated.
