Hubballi Police Nab Seven in Major Robbery Crackdown
Hubballi, September 30, 2024 – In a significant crackdown, Bendigeri and Kasabapet police have arrested seven individuals involved in multiple robbery cases. The arrests were made in connection with a case registered at Bendigeri Police Station and at Kasabapet Police Station. The accused, who were involved in various robbery activities, were apprehended with stolen cash, weapons, and vehicles used in their criminal acts.
The police have seized ₹4,100 in cash, two motorcycles, one auto-rickshaw, and a knife. The accused also used chilli powder to commit their crimes. According to the authorities, the gang had been targeting individuals traveling alone on the outskirts and NH by blocking their paths using motorcycles and lorries. They would then attack the victims with knives and rob them of their belongings.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
- Bhimaraya, resident of Gangadhar Nagar Settlement, Hubballi.
- Deepak, resident of KB Nagar, 9th Cross, Hubballi.
- Shashikumar, a resident of Sonia Gandhi Nagar, near Hanumanta Devar Temple, Hubballi.
- Srinivas (alias Sheenu), a resident of KB Nagar, 6th Cross, Hubballi.
- Ravi, a resident of Settlement, 7th Cross, Hubballi.
- Nagaraj,a resident of Gopanakoppa, Mahalaxmi Layout, Keshwapur, Hubballi.
- Peter, a resident of Ambedkar Colony, 1st Cross, near Government School, Mantur Road, Hubballi.
The police revealed that the accused are known criminals, with some of them listed as habitual offenders and associated with the M.O.B. gang. Their modus operandi involved using motorcycles to intercept lone travelers, attacking them with chemical powder and knives before fleeing with cash and valuables.
During the investigation, police recovered the following items from the accused:
- ₹4,100 in cash.
- Three mobile phones from various companies.
- Two motorcycles.
- One auto-rickshaw.
- One knife.
- Chemical powder used in the crimes.
All seven suspects are now in police custody, and further investigations are underway to determine the extent of their criminal activities.
