Hubballi: GT Devegowda Raises Eyebrows with Sumalatha-Congress Joining Hint
Hubli Express News: Hubballi: In a surprising revelation, JD(S) Core Committee President GT Devegowda has hinted that the independent MP from Mandya, Sumalatha Ambareesh, might join the Congress. He mentioned that if Sumalatha were to contest the Lok Sabha election from Mandya on a BJP ticket, the JD(S) would support her as she would represent an alliance party in the state.
Addressing reporters on Friday, GT Devegowda stated that the JD(S) has requested the BJP to allow them to field candidates in eight Lok Sabha seats, which include Hassan, Mandya, Mysuru, Kolar, Tumakuru, Bengaluru North, Bengaluru Rural, and Chikkaballapura. However, he acknowledged the likelihood of receiving only six seats.
Furthermore, Devegowda discussed the slim chances of Nikhil Kumaraswamy, the son of former CM HD Kumaraswamy, contesting the Lok Sabha elections since he is heading the youth wing of the JD(S).
Adding to the speculation, Devegowda mentioned the possibility of HD Kumaraswamy and Prajwal Revanna participating in the Lok Sabha elections, though he clarified that the party would make the final decision later.
