Yogeshwar met Horatti at his residence near Pinto Circle. Speaking to reporters later, he confirmed that while he had resigned from his MLC post, he had not resigned from the primary membership of the BJP.
“I am considering contesting the bypoll from Channapatna. Although I haven’t made a final decision yet, I may run as an independent candidate. Both the BJP and JDS should give me an opportunity to contest the election. If I decide to run as an independent, I will need to resign from the MLC post,” Yogeshwar explained.
He further added, “This election became necessary following the resignation of HD Kumaraswamy. Kumaraswamy should propose the candidate, but whatever happens, I need to be prepared to contest. My desire is to run as the NDA candidate.”
