Hubballi BJP Corporator Disqualified for Violating Party Whip in Mayoral Election
Hubli Express News, Dharwad, Karnataka: Saraswati Vinayak Dhongadi, a BJP corporator from ward number 54 in Dharwad, has been disqualified from holding office by the regional commissioner. The action comes after Dhongadi violated the party whip during the mayoral election by abstaining from voting for the BJP’s designated candidates for mayor and deputy mayor.
Former mayor Iresh Anchatgeri confirmed the disqualification, stating that Dhongadi’s actions constituted “anti-party activities” and a violation of the Karnataka Local Authority Defection Act. The disqualification followed a written complaint filed by the then president of the BJP city district, Sanjay Kapatkar, who demanded action against Dhongadi.
According to Anchatgeri, the regional commissioner conducted a thorough investigation, hearing arguments from both sides before deciding to disqualify Dhongadi. This move serves as a reminder of the consequences faced by party members who deviate from the party line, he said.
