Hubballi: Union Minister for Food and Consumer Affairs, Pralhad Joshi, has announced that Hubballi Airport will be given an international touch.

On Sunday, after inspecting the progress of the new terminal building at Hubballi Airport, Joshi held a review meeting with airport officials and spoke about the development.

The airport is being expanded at a cost of Rs 270 crore, with an expectation to handle 2.5 lakh passengers, he said.

Currently, the terminal can accommodate 50,000 passengers annually. This capacity will be expanded to cater to 2.5 lakh passengers along with providing necessary facilities, he added.

Tender Soon for Construction:
A large-scale development of the new terminal is underway, and in-principle approval for the project has already been granted. A tender for the construction will be floated soon, Joshi stated.

Expansion to Park 10 Airbus Planes:
Presently, the airport has space for 4 aircraft to park, and plans are in place to expand this area to accommodate up to 10 Airbus or Boeing planes. The minister discussed this development with airport officials.

PM Modi Launched the Project:
On March 10, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the new terminal at Hubballi Airport, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 273 crore. The construction is progressing swiftly, said Joshi.

Boost to North Karnataka’s Development:
The new terminal will give Hubballi Airport an international flair. Our commercial city will gain upgraded facilities, accelerating the overall development of the North Karnataka region, he mentioned.

Congratulations to the Prime Minister:
Minister Pralhad Joshi, who is also the MP for Dharwad, extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia for approving and initiating this significant project.

MLAs Arvind Bellad, Mahesh Tenginakayi, Hubballi-Dharwad Mayor Ramanna Badiger, and airport officials were present during the event.
