Hoax Bomb Threat on Air India Flight AI 636 Sparks Investigation in Indore
Indore Police have registered a case after a hoax bomb threat was posted on social media, claiming a pipe bomb was placed on Air India flight AI 636, traveling from Delhi to Mumbai via Indore.
The message appeared on an X account at 5:08 pm on October 29, 2024, shortly after the flight had already departed Indore for Mumbai. Investigations confirmed the threat was false, stated Deputy Commissioner of Police Vinod Kumar Meena.
The case was filed against an unidentified person under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section 351(4) for criminal intimidation by concealing identity. This incident is part of a recent spike in fake bomb threats, with over 510 flights receiving similar threats in the last 16 days, mostly via social media.
