Google CEO Sundar Pichai Announces Anticipated Job Cuts in Internal Memo
Google CEO Sundar Pichai has informed employees of anticipated job cuts at the Alphabet-owned company this year, aiming to streamline operations and enhance efficiency, particularly in areas utilizing artificial intelligence and automation, reported NDTV.
Pichai clarified that these role eliminations won’t match the scale of last year’s reductions and won’t impact every team. Despite this, Google remains committed to ambitious goals and significant investments in priority areas. Recent layoffs in the Voice Assistant, hardware, advertising, and augmented reality teams indicate the company’s ongoing restructuring efforts. In January 2023, Alphabet announced a plan to cut 6% of its global workforce.
