First of its Kind: Hubballi-Dharwad Police Seize MDMA, Nab Three Suspects
Hubballi: In a significant operation, the Hubballi-Dharwad police have apprehended three individuals in connection with the smuggling of MDMA, marking a notable first for the region.
On Wednesday, a team from the Central Crime Branch (CCB), led by ACP ST Odeyar and including Inspectors Maruti Gullari, Prabhu Gangenahalli, Ali Shaikh, Siddappa Shimani, and others, acted on precise intelligence. The team arrested three suspects near Azad Nagar in the Keshwapur area.
MDMA, also known as Ecstasy, is a potent stimulant drug notorious for inducing hallucinations. It falls under the category of designer drugs, originally formulated to elicit euphoric sensations. This substance is particularly popular among teenagers and young adults frequenting clubs, concerts, or rave parties.
The seized MDMA weighed 0.925 grams and holds an estimated street value of Rs 1.38 lakh. Additionally, the police confiscated a vehicle, three mobile phones, and Rs 4,000 in cash from the suspects, bringing the total value of the seizure to Rs 11.52 lakhs.
The arrested individuals have been identified as follows: Anfal Abdul Aziz, 31, residing in Janata Quarters, Gandhiwada, Hubballi; Vikram Premrao Chaudhary, 32, from Akash Park, Hubballi; and Dawal Malik Rajesab Nadaf, 24, hailing from Navanagar, Hubballi.
The successful operation underscores the commitment of the Hubballi-Dharwad police in combating drug trafficking and ensuring the safety of the community.
