Engineer Walks Away from ₹1 Crore Job Without Another Offer – Internet Reacts
A Bengaluru-based engineer, Varun Hasija, has sparked widespread discussions on social media after sharing his bold decision to leave his high-paying, comfortable job at a tech company without having another offer lined up. With over 10 years of experience in the tech industry, Hasija was earning more than ₹1 crore annually in his role as a product manager. However, in October, on his last day at the company, he made the courageous decision to step away from it all.
In a viral post on X (formerly Twitter), Hasija revealed, “A few months ago, I made one of the toughest decisions of my life: I left my lucrative job with no backup plan or higher offer in sight. No plan. No backup. Just the realization that I needed a real break, the first one in my entire career.”
Hasija explained that his decision wasn’t spur-of-the-moment but was guided by a structured framework he had followed throughout his decade-long career. His thought process included a few crucial steps, starting with discussing his decision with his wife, Dr. Mokshda Manchanda, an English professor, who lives with him in Mumbai. Together, they meticulously planned their finances and tracked their spending for the next two to three months.
A couple of months ago, I made one of the hardest decisions of my life: I left my cushy, high-paying (₹1 Cr+) job without another offer in hand.
No plan. No backup. Just the decision that I needed a break—a real one—for the first time in my decade-long career.

Before resigning, Hasija made sure to prepare financially, so he wouldn’t constantly worry about money. He emphasized that his decision to leave his job was based on three key factors: happiness, impact, and wealth creation. While his previous job checked the box for wealth, it lacked the fulfillment and impact he sought, leading him to reassess his career path.
