Eminent Jurist and Supreme Court Advocate Fali Nariman Passes Away at 95
New Delhi: Fali S Nariman, a renowned lawyer and legal scholar who argued several landmark cases in the Supreme Court of India, died at his Delhi home today. He was 95.
Fali Nariman, renowned for his legal acumen, received the prestigious Padma Bhushan in 1991 and Padma Vibhushan in 2007, acknowledging his significant contributions to the legal field. Commencing his legal career at the Bombay High Court, he later made the capital his professional home. His notable tenure as the Solicitor General of India in 1972 came to an abrupt end in 1975 when he resigned in protest against the imposition of Emergency by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Beyond his legal pursuits, Fali Nariman held the esteemed position of President of the Bar Association from 1991 to 2010, showcasing his commitment to the legal community.
