Donald Trump Secures Arizona, Flips Six States in Stunning Electoral Victory
President-elect Donald Trump has secured a win in Arizona, defeating Democratic opponent Kamala Harris across all seven crucial battleground states.
This election cycle’s battleground states included Arizona, Nevada, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia. With Arizona’s 11 electoral votes, Trump’s electoral college tally now stands at 312, surpassing Harris’s 226.
The Republican Party has also regained control of the Senate and is on track to maintain its majority in the House of Representatives. Republicans currently hold 52 seats in the Senate to the Democrats’ 47. In the House, Republicans have claimed 216 seats, with Democrats at 209, just two seats shy of the 218 needed for a majority. Republicans remain optimistic about securing the additional seats required.
In 2020, Joe Biden became the first Democrat since Bill Clinton to carry Arizona, but Trump has successfully flipped it back in this election.
On the campaign trail, Trump emphasized issues like border security, immigration, and crime, topics that resonated with Arizona voters amid last year’s record influx of migrants. He pledged sweeping immigration reforms, including mass deportations, hiring an additional 10,000 border agents, and redirecting military funds toward border security.
This win in Arizona marks the sixth state Trump has flipped from Biden’s 2020 electoral map. Along with Arizona, Trump secured victories in Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. North Carolina, a close win for Trump in 2020, also remained in his column this year.
Donald Trump is set to be inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States on January 20.
