Disturbing Incident in Gangavathy: Married Woman Raped by Gang on Pretense, All Accused Arrested

KOPPAL: In Gangavathi town, Karnataka, a married woman, aged 21, was raped by a six-member gang under the pretext of assisting her during a marital dispute. The incident occurred when the victim, a Bengaluru native, visited her husband in Gangavathi on February 9.

Following a quarrel between the couple, the gang intervened, ostensibly supporting the wife. Exploiting the situation, they attacked the husband and forcibly took the woman to a park where she was raped by the main accused, Lingaraj, with the assistance of others. After the assault, the gang fled, leaving the victim behind. Five of the perpetrators, have been arrested, while the search for the main accused continues. The victim reported the incident to the Gangavathi police station.
