Dharwad Woman Loses ₹26.86 Lakh to Cyber Criminals

Dharwad: A 35-year-old woman fell victim to a cyber fraud scheme, losing ₹26.86 lakh in the process. In her pursuit of earning money online, she became entangled in a deceitful operation.

According to police reports, Suchita Halli, a resident of Sattur, was added to a WhatsApp group where members shared information about making money online. Within this group, she was persuaded to install an application called “Saxo” to begin her investment journey.

Between April 24 and May 14, the victim transferred funds totaling ₹26.86 lakh from her three bank accounts, lured by the promises made by the fraudsters. It was only when she failed to see any return on her investments that she realized she had been scammed. Distressed by the incident, she subsequently approached the cyber crime police for assistance.
