Dharwad: SDM Doctor Loses Nearly Rs 6 Lakh in Cyber Crime Fraud
In Dharwad, a lady doctor at SDM Medical College fell victim to cyber tricksters, losing Rs 5.91 lakh. The 24-year-old medical professional received an unknown call on her WhatsApp, enticing her with a seemingly lucrative offer to earn money by conducting restaurant reviews.
Initially, the scammers paid a small amount to convince her of the legitimacy of the opportunity. Subsequently, she was added to a Telegram group and assigned prepared tasks, with promises of payment upon completion. To maximize her earnings, she was instructed to deposit money. Believing their assurances, she transferred Rs 5.91 lakh from her two bank accounts, only to realize that she had been duped.
Upon discovering the fraud, the doctor promptly approached the Cyber Crime Police and registered a case. An investigation is currently underway to apprehend the perpetrators.
