DUBAI: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is investigating a “severe hard landing” involving an Air India Airbus A320neo during its Cochin to Dubai flight on December 20.

The 5.5-year-old aircraft, which experienced a heavy landing with a recorded force of 3.5 G, did not sustain apparent structural damage.

The incident prompted the removal of the pilot responsible from flying duties pending investigation. Despite being grounded for a week in Dubai for extensive safety checks, the Airbus A320neo was cleared for flight and ferried back to Air India’s engineering base in Mumbai.

The investigation is ongoing, with the pilot being off-rostered during the inquiry process.
