Russia launched a devastating aerial assault on Ukraine, targeting schools, hospitals, and homes in one of the war’s largest barrages.

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy reported that the majority of the nearly 110 rockets fired were intercepted. The attack, involving ballistic and cruise missiles, resulted in at least 18 deaths and over 130 injuries.

Emergency crews worked to rescue people, and war crimes investigations were initiated. The strikes followed a Ukrainian action in Russian-occupied Crimea.

Kyiv experienced explosions, with at least seven dead and 30 injured. In Kharkiv, more than 20 missile launches caused casualties and extensive damage. Lviv faced rare attacks, leaving one dead and 30 injured.

Dnipro reported casualties from damaged facilities, while Odesa suffered drone and missile hits, resulting in four dead and 22 injured. Ukraine’s air force issued warnings as several cities were targeted.

Russia claimed 50 strikes on military targets but denied hitting civilians. Neighboring Poland detected an “unidentified air object.” The intense assault, reflecting a shift in the conflict, raised questions about a possible cease-fire or peace agreement. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba urged global awareness of the explosions’ impact.
