Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar of the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the dates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on Saturday. Polling will be held in 7 phases across 543 Lok Sabha constituencies in the country. The first phase of polling will be held on April 19. The election process will be held in 2 phases in Karnataka. The Model Code of Conduct for elections will also come into force from today.

Polling on April 26 and May 7

Polling in Karnataka will be held on April 26 and May 7. Counting of votes and results will be announced on June 4. Polling in South Karnataka will be held in the second phase, while polling in North Karnataka areas will be held in the third phase.
