A CSMT-bound local train derailed at Kalyan station on Friday at 9:02 p.m., causing significant disruptions on Central Railway’s Mumbai division. Fortunately, no passengers were injured. Restoration efforts were immediately initiated, but several long-distance and local trains faced delays and diversions.

Key services, including the CSMT-Firozpur Express, CSMT-Amravati Superfast Express, CSMT-Nagpur Express, and LTT-Shalimar Express, were rerouted via Karjat, Lonavala, Pune, Daund, Manmad, and Bhusaval to minimize disruption.

Local services on the main line also ran behind schedule, stranding commuters for extended periods. One passenger, Pranali Lotlikar, traveling with her two young children, experienced a two-hour delay on a Badlapur-bound train. She, like many others, expressed frustration at the lack of updates during the delay.

The derailment occurred at platform number two at Kalyan station. The Central Railway’s Divisional Railway Manager posted on X, apologizing for the disruptions, and acknowledged that mainline services were running late due to technical issues. Efforts to restore normalcy continued into the night, with passengers facing delays across the network.
