In Karnataka, there’s a significant development on the COVID front as the Cabinet Sub Committee, formed to address the spread of the virus, is set to meet today in Bengaluru. Sources suggest that new COVID guidelines might be announced following the meeting.

This comes in the wake of 34 confirmed cases of a new COVID variant, marking the committee’s first meeting since its formation. One key agenda is the discussion on the possibility of administering booster doses of the COVID vaccine to the public. The state had halted booster doses since last April, and now, there’s a question about whether restarting the immunization drive would be considered a booster dose.

In the last 24 hours, three COVID cases have been reported in the state— one each in Dakshina Kannada, Bengaluru, and Hassan. The meeting gains significance as the state continues to report over 100 COVID cases daily. Stay tuned for updates on the outcome of the committee meeting and any new guidelines that may be introduced.
