Congress Workers to Email President of India, Protest Against Governor
Bengaluru: Congress party workers are set to stage massive protests across Karnataka against Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot, condemning his decision to allow the prosecution of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in connection with the alleged MUDA scam.
State Congress President D.K. Shivakumar announced to reporters that party workers will hold statewide Padayatras (marches) to protest the Governor’s actions. He added that the workers would also send emails to the President of India, lodging a complaint against the Governor, whom they accuse of acting under external pressure.
In response to the Governor’s decision, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah reportedly held meetings with legal experts. While it has been decided to challenge the Governor’s move through legal channels, it is not yet clear whether Siddaramaiah will approach the Supreme Court or the High Court to seek a quashing of the Governor’s order.
Reports indicate that senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi will represent Siddaramaiah in the higher courts.
