Congress finalizes candidates for 17 Lok Seats: DK Shivakumar

Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has said that the party has finalized candidates for 17 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking to reporters, following the CEC meeting in New Delhi on Wednesday, he noted that discussions regarding the candidates for the remaining four constituencies would take place in Bengaluru.

Shivakumar emphasized the importance of collecting local opinions for these final four constituencies. He revealed that a meeting of local leaders is scheduled for tomorrow, followed by discussions conducted through Zoom.

Responding to queries about the visit of Kolar leaders, Shivakumar stated that they had expressed their political views, affirming that the party listens to all perspectives.

He highlighted a significant shift in Karnataka Congress history, stating that tickets are being provided to family members of ministers as well as new candidates. He stressed the party’s commitment to providing opportunities to educated youth, asserting that everyone is capable and has responsibilities.

When asked about the possibility of Sadananda Gowda joining the Congress party, Shivakumar declined to discuss the matter publicly, stating that the party will not comment on other parties. He noted media reports of discontent within the BJP and indicated that the party would respond later.
