Congress CEC Finalizes Candidates for Nine Karnataka LS Constituencies
New Delhi: In a significant development, the Congress Central Election Committee (Congress CEC) convened on Thursday to discuss candidates for 14 constituencies in Karnataka. Out of these, candidates for nine constituencies have been finalized, with the party expected to announce names for the remaining 60 constituencies either a day before the implementation of the model code of conduct or immediately after.
According to reliable sources, the Congress CEC has given its nod to candidates for nine constituencies. BN Chandrappa is set to contest from Chitradurga, Rajashekhar Patil from Bidar, Shivamogga-Geetha Shivarajkumar, Kalaburgi-Radhakrishna (son-in-law of Mallikarjun Kharge) from Kalaburgi, DK Suresh from Bengaluru Rural, Star Chandru (Venkatramanegowda) from Mandya, Muddu Hanumegowda from Tumakuru, Shreyas Patel from Hassan, and KH Muniyappa, the food and civil minister in the Siddaramaiah government, will be contesting from Kolar.
The CEC discussed potential candidates for Bengaluru Central, with NA Harris, Bengaluru South, Soumya Reddy, Mysuru-Kodagu, Laxman, and Chamaraj Nagar. However, the finalization of candidates for these constituencies is still pending, according to insider sources.
