Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer made Premier League history on Saturday, becoming the first player in the league’s 32-year existence to net four goals in the first half of a single match. Palmer’s remarkable goal spree took place at Stamford Bridge during Chelsea’s encounter with Brighton, where they led 4-2 by halftime.

The England international opened his account in the 21st minute, followed by goals in the 28th, 31st, and 41st minutes, marking an explosive 20-minute stretch. This unprecedented achievement was confirmed by Opta, the Premier League’s official statistics provider, which noted that no other player has ever scored so many goals before the halftime whistle.

Palmer is no stranger to multi-goal performances, having also scored four goals in Chelsea’s dominant 6-0 victory over Everton in April last season. This feat places him alongside Chelsea legends Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard, and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, as one of only a few players to score at least three goals in a match on three different occasions.

The match against Brighton marked Palmer’s 39th league appearance for Chelsea, having joined the club from Manchester City in the 2023 offseason. His remarkable performance has firmly established him as a key player for the Blues in the Premier League.
