CM Siddaramaiah Urges Karnataka MPs: Join Jantar Mantar Protest, Writes Letter
Bengaluru, February 6, 2024: In a bold move, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has reached out to every Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament representing the state, urging them to join him , state ministers and MLAs in a protest scheduled to take place at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on February 7.
The demonstration aims to spotlight what the Chief Minister describes as the “stepmotherly attitude” of the Union Government, specifically addressing concerns related to financial distribution and the perceived neglect in providing drought relief. In a letter addressed to the state’s MPs, Siddaramaiah emphasized the urgency of the situation.
“As elected representatives, you are acutely aware of the discriminatory practices in financial allocation by the central government. The failure to release grants for combating severe drought, delays in granting permissions for crucial projects, and the lack of cooperation are significantly impacting the lives of the people of Karnataka,” wrote Siddaramaiah in the letter.
The Chief Minister called upon the MPs to stand in unity during the protest and contribute to its success. He highlighted the critical need for collective action to draw attention to the challenges faced by the state and to urge the Union Government to address these issues promptly.
