Rabata: The Moroccan Navy successfully rescued 141 migrants, including three women and two minors, from a precarious boat stranded off the Atlantic coast.

Originating from sub-Saharan African countries, the migrants embarked from the Mauritanian coast on February 10 with the aim of reaching the Canary Islands.

The rescue operation endured challenging weather conditions, lasting 15 hours. After their distress signal was intercepted about 274 km off the port of Dakhla, Moroccan authorities took charge. The migrants, now under the care of the Royal Gendarmerie, will undergo standard administrative procedures. In 2023, the Moroccan Army apprehended approximately 87,000 undocumented migrants, primarily from sub-Saharan Africa.
