Canada: Indian Student Shot Dead in Vancouver
A young Indian student, Chirag Antil, was tragically killed in Vancouver, Canada. The 24-year-old was found shot dead inside his car in South Vancouver’s Sunset neighborhood.
Following reports of gunshots on Friday, April 12th, around 11 pm, Vancouver Police arrived at the scene on East 55th Avenue and Main Street. They discovered Chirag deceased in his vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing, with no arrests made yet.
Family seeks support
Chirag’s brother, Romit Antil, described him as a kind-hearted person. They spoke on the phone that morning, and Chirag seemed happy.
Romit told reporters that Chirag had recently completed his MBA at University Canada West and obtained a work permit.
To repatriate Chirag’s body to India, the family has started a GoFundMe campaign.
Calls for assistance
The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) urged the Ministry of External Affairs to closely monitor the investigation and ensure justice for Chirag. They also requested support for the grieving family.
