BWSSB to Launch Web Portal for Booking Treated Water
The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) is set to simplify access to treated water for consumers with the launch of a new web portal. This initiative aims to address water scarcity concerns, particularly for commercial establishments and industries that require large volumes.
The portal, expected to be operational within the next three days, will allow consumers to conveniently book treated water for “tertiary purposes,” which excludes uses requiring potable water. This is a welcome step for businesses that can utilize treated water for tasks like landscaping, car washing, or industrial processes.
While the BWSSB is finalizing the logistics for treated water delivery, the current rate for 1,000 liters is set at Rs 10. Consumers may need to arrange for their own tankers if BWSSB faces initial challenges in providing them.
This move by the BWSSB is a positive step towards efficient water management in Bengaluru. It remains to be seen how quickly the delivery logistics are ironed out, but the web portal itself offers a convenient and accessible solution for businesses seeking treated water.
