Breaking News: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal arrested by the ED
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal arrested by the Enforcement Directorate today after 2 hours of inquiry by the ED officials in connection with alleged Liquor Policy Scam. Kejriwal had skipped ED summons nine times.
Kejriwal has turned to the Supreme Court for recourse after the Delhi High Court rejected his plea for protection from “coercive measures” by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The ED has issued nine summons to Kejriwal in connection with the excise policy case.
Earlier today, a division bench comprising Justices Suresh Kumar Kait and Manoj Jain of the Delhi High Court declined to grant interim relief to CM Kejriwal at this stage.
Last week, the ED issued its ninth summons to Kejriwal regarding the excise policy case, setting a deadline for him to appear before the agency on Thursday.
Kejriwal, in response, had approached the high court seeking safeguards against potential “coercive measures” by the ED, alleging an evident intention to arrest him and declaring his refusal to comply with the agency’s summons.
