Bengaluru Electric Scooter Showroom Fire Claims Life of 20-Year-Old Saleswoman
Bengaluru: A massive fire broke out at the My EV Electric Scooter showroom on Rajkumar Road on Sunday evening, resulting in the tragic death of a 20-year-old saleswoman and the destruction of several electric scooters.
The incident occurred around 5:30 PM, reportedly triggered by a short circuit in one of the scooters. The fire rapidly spread across the showroom, leaving employees and witnesses helpless as flames consumed the premises. Priya (20), who worked as a salesgirl at the showroom, was unable to escape the blaze and succumbed to the fire. Fire department personnel later recovered her charred body.
According to eyewitness accounts, the fire spread swiftly, engulfing the showroom and destroying approximately 45 electric scooters. Thick plumes of smoke and intense flames made firefighting efforts challenging. Several fire tenders were rushed to the spot, and fire personnel worked relentlessly to bring the situation under control.
“The fire’s intensity was so severe that the victim couldn’t get out in time,” said a fire official at the scene.
Rajajinagar police have launched an investigation into the incident, with preliminary findings suggesting an electrical short circuit as the probable cause. Authorities are also assessing the extent of damage and checking if fire safety protocols were adequately followed at the facility.
