Belagavi woman stripped naked, beaten publicly, police arrest seven suspects

Belagavi: A horrific incident unfolded in Belagavi district, tarnishing the society’s values. A woman was subjected to public humiliation as miscreants allegedly stripped and beat her.

The appalling event occurred in Hosavantamuri village, Belagavi taluk, late Sunday night. Sources suggest it was triggered by a young couple’s escape from the village. Enraged relatives of the girl descended upon the boy’s house, vandalizing it. The situation escalated, leading to the boy’s mother being dragged outside, stripped, and brutally beaten, tied to an electrical pole.

The 42-year-old victim was rescued by Kakti police and 112 responders. Home Minister G Parameshwara expressed his condemnation and visited the victim at her home and in the hospital, offering reassurance.

“It’s a highly condemnable incident; this should never have happened,” stated Minister Parameshwara. Assuring severe legal consequences for the miscreants, he confirmed the arrest of seven individuals related to the incident.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed shock and promised stringent legal action against those responsible for this heinous act. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, demanding urgent attention to ensure justice and prevent any recurrence of such disgraceful events.
