Authorities Probe Bullying Incident at Qihua Primary School
SINGAPORE — Authorities are investigating an incident involving a group of boys who were caught on camera assaulting a student from Qihua Primary School.
In response to media queries, the school confirmed in a statement on September 23 that it was aware of the situation and had taken steps to counsel the students involved. The school is also collaborating with the parents to ensure the well-being of all parties affected.
The statement emphasized that students have been reminded to look out for one another and to report any instances of bullying to their teachers. However, no additional details were provided regarding the timing of the incident or when it was first reported.
A 43-second video clip, shared on Telegram on September 20, captured the disturbing scene. In the footage, a boy dressed in black is seen punching a smaller student, clad in a school uniform, in the stomach twice. A voice in the background, speaking in Malay, can be heard encouraging the attack by saying, “Again, again.”
After falling to the ground, the smaller student rises only to receive further blows, including a kick to the stomach from the larger boy.
Later in the video, the larger boy continues the assault, hitting the victim in the head and kneeing him in the stomach while in a stairwell. He is then joined by another boy, wearing a grey hoodie, who also kicks the student.
A separate photograph shows the victim wearing a Qihua Primary School uniform with a slipper placed on his head, while three other boys stand around him.
The police have confirmed that a report was filed and investigations are currently underway.
