Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman criticized the Tamil Nadu government on Sunday, alleging that it has prohibited the live telecast of Ayodha Ram Mandir programs scheduled for January 22. Sitharaman, using the microblogging platform X, accused the MK Stalin-led DMK government of being “anti-Hindu” and engaging in “hateful” actions.

In a tweet on X, she stated, “TN govt has banned watching live telecast of Ayodha Ram Mandir programmes of 22 Jan 24. In TN there are over 200 temples for Shri Ram. In HR and CE managed temples no puja/bhajan/prasadam/annadanam in the name of Shri Ram is allowed.”

Sitharaman further expressed her condemnation, noting that police are preventing privately held temples from organizing events, and organizers are being threatened with the removal of pandals. She continued, “Strongly condemn this anti-Hindu, hateful action.”

In a subsequent tweet, Sitharaman lamented the situation in various parts of Tamil Nadu, where people are reportedly threatened for organizing bhajans and celebrations related to Ayodhya. She accused the DMK, a partner in the I.N.D.I Alliance, of anti-Hindu efforts and claimed that the TN government is using false narratives about law and order issues to justify the live telecast ban. Sitharaman insisted that the groundswell of voluntary participation in celebrating Shri Ram in TN has rattled the anti-Hindu sentiments of the DMK.

HR and CE department has given a clarification following Nirmala Sithraman’s allegation said that no such notice given by Endowment Department, reported CNN News 18.
