Ambati Rayudu’s Swift Exit: Cricketer-Politician Quits YSRCP After 8 Days
Cricketer-turned-politician Ambati Rayudu has abruptly resigned from the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), merely eight days after joining on December 28.
The former Chennai Super Kings player, who retired from international cricket in June 2023, had expressed interest in politics. Despite being appointed as the brand ambassador for the ‘Adudham Andhra’ sports festival launched by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, Rayudu reportedly did not participate. In a post, he stated, “I have decided to quit the YSRCP Party and stay out of politics for a little while.” Prior to joining YSRCP, Rayudu engaged in party activities in his native Guntur.
Rayudu in another post stated ” I Ambati Rayudu will be representing the Mumbai Indians in the upcoming ILt20 from jan 20th in Dubai. Which requires me to be politically non affiliated whilst playing professional sport.”
This is to inform everyone that I have decided to quit the YSRCP Party and stay out of politics for a little while. Further action will be conveyed in due course of time.
Thank You.
