Montgomery, USA: In an incident in Alabama, a 27-year-old mother, Sarai Rachel James, reportedly ran over her seven-year-old son with her car after forcing him to walk home from school as a form of punishment. The incident occurred on February 9, following reports of the child’s misbehavior at school.

After picking him up from school, James stopped the car a short distance away and instructed her son to walk the remaining eight blocks home. As he tried to open the car door while the vehicle was in motion, he was inadvertently pulled under the car and run over by the back tire. Fortunately, the child sustained abrasions but miraculously avoided more severe injuries.

Boaz Police Department Chief Michael Abercrombie stated that while investigators believe the mother ran over her son accidentally, her chosen form of punishment directly led to the incident. James now faces charges of aggravated child abuse and has been released on a $50,000 bond, with restrictions preventing her from contacting her son. A 53-year-old woman, present in the car at the time, faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child and was released on a $500 bond. The authorities continue to investigate this distressing case.
