Main Accused in Rashmika Mandanna Deepfake Case Arrested by Delhi Police

The primary suspect behind the viral deepfake video depicting actress Rashmika Mandanna entering an elevator has been arrested by the Delhi Police more than two months after the video circulated widely on social media. Deputy Commissioner of Police Hemant Tiwari, from the IFSO Unit, confirmed the arrest on Saturday, according to a news report Indian Express.

The Delhi Police’s Special Cell initiated an investigation into the case on November 10 when the manipulated video surfaced on social media. The original footage featured a different woman wearing a black outfit entering an elevator. The accused reportedly utilized artificial intelligence (AI) to superimpose Rashmika Mandanna’s face onto the woman in the video.
