41 Fall Ill After Consuming Contaminated Borewell Water in Belagavi Dist
Belagavi, Express News: In a concerning incident, 41 residents of Chachadi village in Savadatti taluk, Belagavi district, fell ill after consuming water from a borewell suspected to be contaminated with drain water.
The situation had been gradually worsening over the past week as villagers began experiencing symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, and severe stomach pain. However, on Monday, the number of affected individuals spiked, leading to widespread concern in the community.
Local health authorities have since confirmed that the borewell water, which many villagers rely on for daily use, was indeed contaminated. The contamination is believed to have occurred due to a breach in the drainage system, which led to the mixing of sewage with the borewell water supply.
Medical teams have been dispatched to the village to provide immediate care to those affected. Patients are being treated for symptoms related to waterborne illnesses, and several have been hospitalized for further observation, said sources.
