Hubballi: On National Doctors’ Day, KIMS doctors held a silent march to condemn violence against doctors and mourn the deaths of their colleagues.
Doctors gathered in front of the KIMS College building to pay tribute to Bharat Ratna Dr BC Roy and doctors who died while on duty during the pandemic.
With banners in hands and black ribbons on their aprons, they marched silently from the College Building to the Gandhi statue, where they garlanded the Mahatma and then returned to the same location after honouring Dr B R Ambedkar with a garland.
The message of the silent protest was loud and clear. The cloudy weather just contributed to the physicians’ raging emotions as they mourn the loss of their colleagues around the country, as well as the assaults and abuses they are experiencing.
The statement doctors placed on one of the posters said, “When the doctors’ white coat becomes red, the society turns black # Save the saviours.”
Dr Rajashekhar Dundaraddy, President of the KIMS Doctors Association, spoke to the doctors on the occasion.
Dr Suresh Huchchannavar, Dr Gururaj Muragod, Dr Ishwar Hasabi, Dr Prakash Wari, Dr Sandeep, Dr GC Patil. Dr KF Kammar, Dr Kasturi Donimath, Dr Vidya Hasabi, Dr SS Shirol, Dr SY Mulkipatil and others were present.
