Shivamogga: Former Chief Minister, BS Yediyurappa, expressed his perplexity over the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) delay in announcing candidates for the remaining two assembly seats.

The BJP has not yet announced candidates for Shivamogga and Manavi assembly seats. He conjectured that the party may declare the candidates by the end of the day. Yediyurappa, who is a veteran BJP leader, also asserted that the party is currently in a favorable position and that the recent departure of former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar and former Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi from the BJP will not have an adverse effect on the party’s election performance.

He exuded confidence that the BJP will surpass the required threshold to form the government on their own. Yediyurappa further divulged his plan to begin his state tour from April 19 to campaign for BJP candidates.

He criticized Shettar’s decision to join the Congress and revealed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had made an attempt to dissuade him from switching parties. According to Yediyurappa, Shah had offered Shettar a Rajya Sabha seat, a union ministerial post, and a ticket for his wife to contest the Hubballi-Dharwad (Central) constituency, but Shettar refused to heed Shah’s persuasion.
