Former Chief Minister of Karnataka, B S Yediyurappa, has announced that his younger son, Vijayendra, will contest in the upcoming assembly elections from the Shikaripura constituency. The former CM, who currently represents Shikaripura, revealed that he had advised Vijayendra to contest from the same seat and that the decision would be conveyed to the party high command.
This comes after Yediyurappa had previously hinted at the possibility of fielding Vijayendra against former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the Varuna constituency. However, Yediyurappa has now made it clear that his son will not be contesting from Varuna.
The assembly elections in Karnataka are scheduled for May 10, with the results set to be announced on May 13. The announcement of Vijayendra’s candidacy from Shikaripura has generated considerable interest and speculation, as the constituency has been a stronghold of the BSY family for many years. With Yediyurappa stepping aside and passing the baton to his son, it remains to be seen how this will affect the political landscape in Karnataka.
